Arsenal's Miyaichi Granted Work Permit

Arsenal's 18 year-old Japanese midfielder has been granted a work permit and is now officially allowed to play for Arsenal in the Premier League.

Arsenal had lodged a special talent work permit late in July to allow him to play and work in England, and now that this has been accepted, his immediate future at Arsenal has been made a whole lot clearer.

Miyaichi has excited many around the world during his loan spell at Feyenoord when Arsenal were deciding his future as well as in his appearances in Arsenal's pre season games. He has been able to play in the pre season friendlies, as a work permit is only required for competitive games, such as the Premier League and FA Cup.

Arsene Wenger is clearly excited by the talent Miyaichi holds, showing his delight that the work permit has been granted, saying:

"We are absolutely delighted that Ryo has been granted a work permit. This is almost like a new signing for us as we weren’t completely sure we would be given the authorization. Ryo has worked extremely hard in pre season and performed well in the matches in Asia Germany and Portugal."

While the young attacking midfielder may not be put straight into the first team for the big games at Arsenal, it will be interesting to see some cameo performances in the Premier League, starting next week as well as competitions such as the Carling Cup.

Arsenal the "best way to learn" for New Signing

Arsenal's new £15 million signing and exciting future prospect has explained his reasons for choosing the Gunners over other big clubs interested in him.

It is already being predicted that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will become a better player than the last Southampton player to make it in the Premier League with Arsenal. Former Arsenal midfielder, Stewart Robson said in no uncertain terms that the soon to be 18 year-old midfielder has more talent, technical ability and intelligence than Walcott and so will clearly "be a better player than Walcott."


The player himself therefore has a lot of expectation on his young shoulders, and many eyes will be watching him to see how he develops as a footballer at Arsenal. Chamberlain believes that he has chosen correctly in joining Arsenal because it is the best place to learn as a footballer. He said:

"I've never really been a mad fan of anyone but Arsenal definitely were one of the teams I've always followed. I think that's the best way to learn to play football, watching the boys play at Arsenal."

Having followed Arsenal as a child, he has always looked up to the clubs all time top scorer and current New York Red Bulls player, Thierry Henry, who had a very fruitful time at the old Highbury, becoming a favourite among fans. This factor also played a part in his decision to join Arsenal:

"As I was growing up, he was always star man on Match of the Day. All the highlights were basically of him because he was always scoring, week in, week out.The goals he scored were fantastic and the play he created around him with the rest of the players, it was just exciting to watch."

Arsenal's manager hasn't been having too smooth a time with some sections of fans who have been eager for additions to the squad to keep up with the big spenders in Manchester United and Manchester City this summer who both apparently showed interest in Chamberlain.

However, Wenger has his new signings full backing. In fact, Wenger's presence helped Chamberlain in choosing Arsenal:

"That was one of the reasons why I wanted to come to Arsenal, because I really believe that he knows what he's doing. I think he knows what to do to develop me in the best way."

His performances for Southampton have been extremely encouraging, and Arsenal fans will be hoping the step up to the Premier League will not faze him or halt his progress, as this is a talent many a club will be envious about missing out on.

Arsenal Reject New, Improved Bid For Fabregas

Arsenal have rejected another offer from Barcelona for their captain Cesc Fabregas, and insisted that the Spanish club must pay what Arsenal demand otherwise, no deal will happen.

Barcelona's offer to Arsenal was improved on their previous £26 million bid - which seems ridiculous when you consider other transfer deals occurring this summer - to £30 million plus £5 million in add-ons. Despite Wenger reportedly allowing Barca to speak to Fabregas, he is staying strong in the £40 million valuation.

The Arsenal chairman, Peter Hill-Wood, told the Star:

"Their offer was nowhere near what we are looking for. It is very straightforward from our point of view. We have told them what we want and we are sticking to it."

"We do not think we are being at all unreasonable when you see the sort of prices players are being sold for, who are not even half as good as Cesc."

"Barcelona are offering extra payments which are dependent on all sorts of fantastical things, but we are not interested in that. We want them to pay what he is worth."

The Star also states that Fabregas is "devastated" and "desperate" at the rejected bid, but somehow, I don't think he would have expected a bid such as this to be accepted, especially as Arsenal have made it abundantly clear of their intentions to make £40 million.

The Arsenal squad travelled to Lisbon to play Benfica in a pre-season friendly last night, and despite Fabregas participated fully in the build up training, he did not travel with his team mates. Either there is a fitness issue, or Fabregas is attempting to speed along his move to Spain before the start of the new season.

Barcelona have never been any good at taking hints, even really big ones. The "Fabregas is not for sale" line didn't put them off, and now the "Fabregas will only leave for at least £40 million" doesn't seem to translate into anything comprehensible, even though Wenger can speak Spanish well.

What Barcelona must understand, is Arsenal need as much money as possible to reinvest, as Fabregas is their most influential players as well as the captain. The sooner they realise that, the sooner this boring saga will be over with.
