Sagna: Fabregas Wants To Leave Arsenal for Barca

If Arsenal fans have tearing their hair out and gnawing at their lips whilst watching intensely the transfer goings on surrounding Samir Nasri and his future, they have yet another story to worry about. Worryingly, it has come directly from inside the club, from their right back, Bacary Sagna. The French defender has done no favours to Arsenal fans' stability by admitting that his friend Fabregas does want to leave Arsenal for Barcelona.
The Arsenal defender told former Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Fernandez on France's RMC radio station:

"I can say it's true that Cesc wants to go to Barca. Fabregas wants to return to his country of birth, to his city, where his family are; he wants to play for one of the best teams in the world, Barcelona, and that's understandable." 

"At the moment, however, he is still Arsenal's captain." 

While it has been common knowledge that Fabregas has been thinking about a move to Barcelona for the past few years thanks to the Spanish sides continued interest and pursuing of the player, it is the latest clear show that Fabregas may be on his way out of Arsenal. Sagna really hasn't helped Arsenal's cause here by announcing what his team-mate wants, as it now gives Barcelona that added and unneeded incentive to begin a transfer battle with Arsenal over Fabregas.

Sagna went on to comment on Samir Nasri's Arsenal future, saying that although he hopes Nasri will stay at the club, he doesn't know if him staying at Arsenal would be best for his career. The latest transfer news involving Samir Nasri is that Arsenal are apparently "willing to listen to offers" from foreign clubs, but will not entertain offers from Manchester United, which may go some way in cheering Arsenal fans up slightly.

"Samir is happy at Arsenal, but I don't know what the best thing is for his career. He has been one of the best players in the team this season and he is one of the symbols of this team. I hope to find him there when we return for (pre-season) training."

Man City, Cristiano Ronaldo & Cesc Fabregas

If someone calculated the percentage of transfer rumours that actually turned out becoming true, I suspect it would be quite low. It is this stage of the year when rumours circulate endlessly, often ones which are quite extraordinary and sometimes laughable. When a club has a bottomless pit of money like Manchester City do, they are constantly linked to players who would cost world record breaking fees and astronomical weekly wages.

The latest one is Cristiano Ronaldo. Yes - the former Manchester United number seven and £80 million Real Madrid signing. City are, according to The Mirror, ready and willing to offer Real Madrid more than the fee they paid for him, as well as increasing his wages, which are worth around £100 million on his current deal. The Mirror stated:

Manchester City are ready to smash the world transfer record to bring Cristiano Ronaldo back to the Premier League.

Ronaldo would also prove a high-profile replacement for another ex-Manchester United star, Carlos Tevez, should the Argentine decide to leave .

Of course, Manchester City can afford it. But it won't happen. Ronaldo is happy at Real Madrid, scoring goals with ease in La Liga. 38 goals and 8 assists for Madrid in the Spanish League this season from Ronaldo is amazing, and while at Manchester United, the Portuguese star never hid the fact that it was his dream to play for Madrid. Why would he join up with United's fierce local rivals? He wouldn't.

Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas, who has been linked to a move to Barcelona relentlessly over the past few summers is very much wanted by City's brightest star, David Silva. Silva and Tevez have been the best attacking players for City this season - always a threat up front with creativity and tenacity, but the addition of Arsenal's captain would be fantastic for Silva who said:

"If only he could come, it would be great, marvellous. We know what he’s achieved as a player and he has a lot of experience of playing in England."

"He likes to keep the ball and that’s how we like to play. He treats the ball as his friend and I get on with him well. I know him from the national side, so it would be great."

Again, City could afford it, but Fabregas would only go to his old club Barcelona - certainly not a fellow Premier League side now challenging Arsenal for the title. The Arsenal captain's team mate Bacary Sagna seemed confident that Fabregas would stay at The Emirates over the summer. When asked if he thought Fabregas would stay at Arsenal, he said:

“Of course. He is under contract with the team. He is still our captain."

In a convenient chain of transfer news, and Sagna himself has been the subject of a bid of £8 million from Bayern Munich. However, Arsenal have turned this bid down and asked for at least £15 million - according to TalkSport.

Leeds 1 - 3 Arsenal - Best Goal?

What an absolute beauty of a goal this was. As I watched, my jaw was firmly rooted to my chest for a good couple of minutes as I soaked up the replays of an unstoppable, stunning strike. He will surely never hit a ball any better than he did in that moment. The only criticism there could possibly be was the celebration - didn't he realise what he had just done?! Its the goal you always dream of when playing the game, and what a stunner it was.

It did not however, stop Arsenal from progressing through to the next stage of the F.A Cup. Goals from Nasri, Sagna and van Persie (which you can see here) wrapped up the win for the Gunners who battled well against a resilient home side backed by their roaring, passionate fans. It was a proper F.A Cup match, great entertainment, great goals, two committed sides, fantastic home support - and even the goalkeeper went up for a corner at the end.
